    Corruption and Ethics in Allentown

    Event Description

    FBI Special Agent Thomas A. Marakovits will outline the chronology of the FBI investigation into the “Play-for-Pay” scheme perpetrated by former Mayor of Allentown, Edwin Pawlowski.  Agent Marakovits will share the intimate details of the investigation and prosecution of Pawlowski including excerpts from audio recordings obtained through the wire-tapping of the Pawlowski, his co-conspirators and other witnesses.

    Speaker Bio

    FBI Special Agent Thomas A. Marakovits conducts white collar crime and public corruption investigations out of the FBI's Allentown Office.  Marakovits graduated from Penn State University in 1991 with a Bachelors degree in Accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1993. He joined the FBI in 1995 and was assigned to the Newark, NJ FBI Field Office until 2005.  Marakovits has been in the FBI Allentown office since 2005 and supervised all investigations in Allentown from 2010 until 2017.  In 2013, Marakovits earned a graduate certificate in forensic accounting from Northeastern University.  Marakovits has worked on many different types of white collar crime financial investigations including high profile public corruption investigations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

    Inclement weather policy:  In the case of inclement weather, you will receive an email (to the address provided during registration) the day before the event if it is to be cancelled and instead held on the snowdate stated above.
