    Event Description

    Fraud can happen in many forms, from Cash Larceny to non-compliance with existing laws and regulations, to outright theft of funds.  The presenter will review the types of fraud, briefly, and then follow up with details of the cases in which he participated in capturing the perpetrators.

    Speaker Bio

    Nathan R. Lipton, CFE, is currently employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services as Subject Matter Expert and Hearing Examiner in the field of MA-11 Cost Report Audits of County and non-profit nursing homes, settling appeals of these reports filed by the facility's legal counsel.  He previously spent 16 years of my professional career working for the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General, Office of Chief Counsel as Special Investigator in-Charge, Forensic Auditor, and Investigations Advisor.  He has also consulted for numerous government agencies as well as private companies and individuals on fraud-related matters.  Nathan holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting and a minor in Business Administration.  He has completed several workshops and training seminars regarding governmental accounting and financial fraud related matters.  Nathan has successfully completed the Certified Fraud Examiners certification program and been certified as an expert witness in various Courts of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania as well as the Middle, Western, and Eastern District of Pennsylvania at the federal level.
