    President's Message Aug 2020

     

    Hello Everyone! Hope this message finds you healthy & safe!  As a great new year gets underway, we have made a few changes this year due to COVID-19.   We are going to be offering virtual breakfast meetings to replace our face to face breakfast meetings.  Our first one is scheduled for 10/1/2020 and Lance Hawk will be presenting on Scams & Schemes.  More information to come!  We are also gearing up for annual membership signups/renewals; more information to come in the next few weeks!

    I would like to start by thanking our officers who have volunteered for another year:  Joe Croce (Vice President) and newest officer Alok Patnaik (Treasurer).  And to our Governors:  Stephen Berndt, Anu Ghai, Lance Hawk, Jim Mahoney, Todd Patterson, Kristin Sommer, Latrisha Oswald, and Heather Stadalman. There are several incentives to participating as an Officer or Governor, such as networking with other fraud fighting professionals, career development & it looks great on a resume!!  We are  always looking for new Governors, and this year we are looking a social media moderator.  We also have 1 open officer positions as Secretary.  Come get involved and help YOUR chapter remain a source of affordable training and networking.

    Some duties for a Governor are:

    • Participate in a majority of the Chapter Year Board Meetings
      • Board Meetings are generally held on the 2nd Thursday at 9 am during the following months: August, October, January, March, June
      • A minimum attendance of at least two meetings per chapter year is expected

    • Assist in planning at least one-chapter event throughout the chapter year
      • Determine meeting topic; arrange speaker(s); book the venue; coordinate food if needed; provide bios, event summary and profit and loss statement to the Board
      • Other duties associated with the successful running of an event

     Some duties for the Secretary include:

    • Participate in a majority of the Chapter Year Board Meetings
      • Board Meetings are generally held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 9 am during the following months: August, October, January, March, June.
      • A minimum attendance of at least two meetings per chapter year is expected

    • Prepare, publish, and maintain minutes of meetings of the Board of Governors and the Officers
      • E-mail to all Board members following the meeting

     

    As a reminder, our fiscal year runs from August thru July which means it is time to renew your local chapter membership and have your new collegues join as well.  Watch for an email soon and be sure to submit your 2020 – 2021 membership and dues to take advantage of member rate pricing for our training events.  The current year’s information can be found on our website (www.acfelehighvalley.org)!

    President's Message Mar 2020

    With the pandemic of COVID 19, we have decided to suspend all LV-ACFE events at this time.  We want to do our part to keep ourselves & our members safe.  We will send out notifications once it is safe to resume our meetings.

    Health Tips: It is so important that you keep following CDC guidance about how to stay healthy and help mitigate the spread of coronavirus at work and at home:

    • Use basic hygiene practices: cover your face if you sneeze or cough (using your elbow, not your hand); dispose of used tissues; avoid touching your face; wash your hands for 30 seconds frequently.
    • Follow the social distancing guidance from the CDC and any new guidance from the state in which you live.

     

    As the weather gets warmer & flowers begin to bloom, we are excited about our upcoming 2020-2021 year.  We will have 2 open officer positions -Secretary & Treasurer.     • Participate in a majority of the Chapter Year Board Meetings
      • Board Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday from 9 am to 12 pm during the following months: August, October, January, March, June.
      • A minimum attendance of at least two meetings per chapter year

     

    • Prepare, publish, and maintain all financial records for the chapter
      • Account for all money received by the Chapter
      • Account for all expenditures by the Chapter
      • Account for Budget vs. Actual for each Chapter Year 

     

    • Prepare, publish, and maintain Chapter Fiscal Year Report

    President's Message Jan 2020

    Happy New Year! As 2020 gets underway, we have created a space on social media: Facebook, Instagram & Twitter.   You can find the links to our new social media accounts and our Linked In page at the bottom of our website (on the left side).  

    The board has been hard at work planning a great line-up of meetings for 2020.  January kicks off with a breakfast meeting at Olympus on Drone Technology.  In Spring we will host the second Ethics breakfast meeting, followed by Student Night led by LV-ACFE. In May 2020 is our all-day training held at DeSales University.  The year will end with our Iron Pigs social.  Please stay connected to these events via our website!

    I’d like to start by thanking our officers who have volunteered for another year:  Joe Croce (Vice President), Desiree Sparr (Treasurer) and Cindy Achey (Secretary).  And to our Governors:  Paul Amenta, Stephen Berndt, Corey Cooper, John Falk, Anu Ghai, Lance Hawk, Jim Mahoney, Alok Patnaik, Todd Patterson, Kristin Sommer, Latrisha Oswald, and Heather Stadalman. I would like to welcome 2 new Governors this year: Andrea Baum & Jeanette Bellesfield.   

    The board has been hard at work planning a great line-up of meetings for 2019 – 2020.  September kicks off with a joint all day meeting hosted by IIA at DeSales: “Fraud Detection and Incident response for Auditors and Fraud Examiners”.  In October we will host one of two Ethics breakfast meetings for the year at Dun & Bradstreet. November we’ll be hosting our annual Networking Event.  2020 will kick off with our second Ethics breakfast meeting, followed by Student Night led by LV-ACFE and our all day.  The year will end with our Iron Pigs social.  Please stay connected to these events via our website!
